Why Stop Expansion of Gross Reservoir?
Just 6 miles (as the crow flies) from downtown Boulder, Denver Water proposes to enlarge the existing Gross Dam, resulting in the biggest and most environmentally damaging construction project in the history of Boulder County.
Sustainable Options
We can be better stewards of the resources we already have, rather than spending millions on a new construction project.
Outdoor Activities
Recreational activities such as hiking, fishing, and canoeing will be canceled or heavily impacted by construction.
Hazardous Traffic
Construction traffic from trucks delivering materials and removing trees will make our roadways more dangerous.
ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP
Formed in 1990, TEG (The Environmental Group) is a 501c3 non-profit environmental organization in Colorado. Located in the foothills of the Front Range, spanning Jefferson, Gilpin and Boulder Counties, TEG works to protect the natural lands and resources of the region from environmental degradation.
TEG is the core group coordinating action to deal with the proposed expansion of Gross Reservoir, undertaking numerous approaches to stop this devastating project. As such, TEG has established working relationships with public officials and nearby conservation groups, and has earned a respected, leadership-role in the community regarding environmental issues.
In addition to leading the fight to stop the proposed Gross Reservoir Expansion, members of TEG have formed multiple organizations over the past 20 years to support fire and flood mitigation and to help residents in need. These groups include Saws and Slaws, the Coal Creek Canyon Watershed Partnership, and Canyon Cares.
